Founded by Saint John Bosco and Saint Mary Mazzarello in Italy in 1872, the Salesian Sisters, formally known as the Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians, are dedicated to the care of youth.
St. John Bosco's educational philosophy, called The Preventive System, uses "Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness" to reach the heart of the youth and lead them to holiness.
This motto, though over 100 years old, remains, to this day, the foundation for the spirit of Villa Madonna's faculty, staff, students and families.

Don Bosco's Four Elements of EducationSt. Don Bosco believed education was a matter of the heart. Thus he made sure these four elements were present in every Salesian work that would bring about the growth of the whole child:
- A Home that welcomes, fostering belonging and mutual respect
- A School that educates for life, emphasizing academic achievement and moral integrity
- A Church that evangelizes
- And a Playground where children have fun, and friendships flourish
This means that whether in the classroom, during recess, or in the chapel, the young person feels at home and has opportunities to grow as a student and as a Christian, all while having fun.
The family spirit that is palpable in all Salesian schools is rooted in respect: seeing the good in each young person. It is a spirit of optimism and cheerfulness that brings the youth to a deeper relationship with Jesus.The Salesian charism reaches every member of the Villa Madonna family, which includes faculty, staff, students, and parents. Long after students graduate, they still know they are part of the family, and many come back to give back to our school.Once a Salesian, always a Salesian!
